Just like other intersections

A roundabout is just like other intersections, except safer. The new multilane roundabouts do have more potential for conflicts, just like an intersection with a turn lane. Remember what your mother said. Each bullet gets its own paragraph. The initial motivation, reason, and vision to build roundabouts was driven by the safety benefits, high level of operations compared to other intersection forms, and their “more beautiful nature.”  In the City’s first application of roundabouts, they were able to preserve trees of significance to the community.  A roundabout was the only solution that accomplished this. •   If the car does not slow speeds to allow you take both lanes
•   Slow your speed
•   Take both lanes behind the car
•   If the car does slow, take both lanes before the car

A bicyclist is adjacent to you on the approach to the roundabout…

•   If the bicyclist does not slow its speed to allow you to take both lanes
•   Slow your speed
•   Take both lanes behind the bicycle
•   If the bicyclist does slow, take both lanes in front of the bicyclist
